Genre Research: Comedy and Horror

Image
Hi everyone! Raymond here with another blog. I'm here to talk to you about the conventions of comedy and horror. In horror movies, they are meant to scare people. The movies typically depict antagonists to be murderers or super villains. Whereas In these movies there are typically not protagonists.  Most times they use Ambient sound and non-diegetic sound. dark lighting is frequently used to set an eerie mood. Horror movies are the scariest most films. Some however have exceptions to traditional character roles. Comedy is another family favorite. It is intended to make people laugh. There are different genres within comedy. They can be funny or scary comedies. It usually has high lighting and lots of ambient sounds. Comedies observe the deficiencies, foibles, and frustrations of life, providing merriment and a momentary escape from day-to-day life. There are usually no good vs evil themes. I hope this was informative and looking forward to the next one. Next time on the Raymond s

Genre Research : Thrillers 12

Hola todos! I decided first to look up thrillers. Thrillers are great for family night and all around great movies. From research, I learned that not only are they usually involve a lot of excitement. They give people risk free thrills. The object of thriller is o invoke an emotion of chill and not understanding what is going to happen next. Common conventions include, dark lighting, ambient sounds, and all of this is used to create the feel. There is always both a protagonist and antagonist.  This is to complete the theme of good versus evil. It gives audiences someone to hate and someone to love. There also are the obligatory scenes that you  find in almost every single thriller film. Be it a crime scene investigation. It can also be in a grave yard. At the end of  the day the object of thriller is to excite the viewer. So the conventions must do that. I hope you had a fun time hearing about conventions. Please stay tuned as I do more research on other genres. Attached is Power Poin

My Pitch

Image
Here are the two pitches. "The struggles of Afro Latinos in the Western World." "The struggles of Afro Latinos in the Hispanic World" First, I would be interested in making both. I do not have the resources to pursue the second one. However, I can gather quite a lot of info for the first one. I chose these pitches as a way to both have fun and speak about issues I care about. I also chose the first one because I can also speak from personal experience being Afro- Latino . I can also speak to family members and friends about their experiences too. I also decided to go with a much narrower scope and just saying the Western World. This way I can be intentionally focused on certain countries within reach. I want to outline the experience from the following countries: Cuba. Puerto Rico, the D.R., and Mexico. In a sequence I will have them say a one line opening into experiences they have had being black and Latino. If it is simply them being profiled or being rejected f

Starting the Final Task

Image
Hola! My name is Raymond Adderly and I am in 11th grade. I have decided to work alone. I have decided to work alone because the content of my film will come from a deep place of study. I want to highlight Afro-Latino achievement which might not be of interest to many people. This is because a lot of latinos within the white community can care less about afro latinos. Thus, this is why I am taking it upon myself to film a opening for this topic. I have said many times that it is not a monolith to be Afro- Latino and my film will do that in its opening. Also, since it is just me I believe my blogs will be pretty unique to this topic. Each blog will be meticulous in addressing not only the issues in the afro latino community but how I encounter them everyday. My blogs will also potentially  grow in length as I begin to address and talk about other issues outside of the instructional material. The  ultimate plan is to create this blog into a ranting platform. This is also going to be a ve

Some things to think about as you reflect: How did you choose the saying? How did you choose the format of the message? What did you learn? What could you do differently? Wow, it seems as if yesterday I started this project and now it has come to a close. I choose my song "La Vida es un Carnaval" because I thought the message was on time and I enjoy the music of Celia Cruz. Furthermore,  as I shared before, I felt it was an opportunity to give the world my culture. It is not very often that Afro- Latinos make the frontpage if it is not for baseball. Actually, most times me saying I am Cuban to most people seems like an anomaly. This music video for me served as a gentle reminder that it i not an anomaly. Outside of the personal message I wanted to send the next portion is the actual message of the song. La vida es un carnaval translates to life is a party.  The song talks about life's ups and downs but through it all life is really what you make it. I framed the

MOVIE BLOG

Finally, the video is complete. I    would  like to thank my brothers for being willing participants this time. I did not have to force them or drag them. I would also like to my mom for her allowing me to      use her car for the filming. We really had a great time . At, the conclusion of the video I shared it with a few friends. They seemed to like the video a lot. Thus, I did the final project and submitted   it. A few updates, I was not able to do the pool scene because it was extremely cold. We had to change to same set different scenes. It was still very successful. I enjoyed this video in particular because I love salsa  music. I could not get more people to make the party look more full. However, I did my very best. Overall, this video is a testament to he effectiveness indivuidual work can have. Each time I work on one of these projects I continue to exapnd my knowledge. I also am an actor so not having to get yelled at by a director and getting to fill that role is a lot of

MV BLOG #3

Howdy everyone and welcome back. It has been a very cold week here in South Florida. On the bright news  I finally finished my filming and editing. It went really well. The crisp air as very good for the enjoyment of the video. I will tell you this was so  hard to put together because of the restraints but I enjoyed it. I love salsa music but most importantly I love Celia Cruz. She is my favorite Salsa Singer of all time. I again, edited on  Imovie and used different techniques. First, I used a recorded sound and put it in the background of the video. I also added the Cuban flag to the background and added the title slide. It was loads of fun to edit again. I was really fascinated by the font that I used as it gave a very retro vibe. I really liked the 90's look as it the song was created in the 90s. Overall I can not wait for you all to see the final product. Until the next blog. I almost forgot i had a very successful trial this week and I was so happy to see my client get of th
